The rescue mission involved with these adorable fox kits began when a concerned caller reported finding a dead fox along the side of the road. The caller was able to observe the fox as a nursing mother by her swollen mammary glands....
Stories
This fledgling Brown Thrasher bird came into Nature World Wildlife Rescue as a tiny, naked baby bird whose nest was blown out of a tree last month, after we FINALLY got a rainstorm in Citrus county. No other babies were found in the downed nest....
Nature World Wildlife Rescue takes in an annual average of 8-10 adult opossums and 120-150 baby opossums. Most of our baby possums are brought in to us because the mother was hit by a car and had died, or a dog may have attacked them....
Upcoming Events
As of today, NWWR has begun to address the issues of the oil spill which may effect our area very soon. Keep checking to see where we are as of each day’s end. We have begun to amass towels, etc for the potential of what may come. The 352-228-2100 # will be answered by Mike, and he will be able to update you as to our progress. Carol’s Interiors on Rt. 19, will be the location to bring all donations. She has graciously allowed us to use a large storage area at her faculity. Mike’s # should be used to report any wildlife found to be involved in the oil slick. Give exact location of the find but DO NOT attempt to rescue. Mike will contact Tri-State Bird Rescue for information on what steps they want us to follow. They are the lead agency and everything must go thru them.
Use our regular # for injured or abandoned wildlife. Remember, a baby bird will be feed by it’s mom if you just put it in a container and nail it back to the tree that it fell from.
We are currently working to get get a link set up from our website to our facebook page. There are some wonderful pictures of rescues and releases that the group was part of. If you do a Nature World Wildlife Rescue search, you will find us that way as of now. Enjoy the pictures, the group has some silly stuff happen as well as heartbreaking.
